February 24, 2025

On February 20th, Roads to Success(RTS) middle school students from Harlem, Brooklyn, and the Bronx came together for an unforgettable day of competition and community at the RTS Annual Basketball 3V3 Tournament 2025. Held at The Post in Brooklyn, the event brought together 150+ young athletes from underserved communities, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their skills, embrace teamwork, and experience the thrill of a professional sports-like atmosphere.

A special thank you to the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) for their generous support in making this event possible!

From intense 3-on-3 matchups to a thrilling 3-point shootout and a highly anticipated All-Star game, the tournament was filled with energy, passion, and incredible talent. With professional referees and coaches guiding the games, the players experienced an environment that not only honed their athletic abilities but also reinforced essential life skills like sportsmanship, resilience, and leadership.

Beyond the Game: What We Gained

This year’s tournament was more than just a series of games—it was a platform for youth to build confidence, forge friendships, and embrace inclusivity. RTS played a critical role in executing every aspect of the event, ensuring that each participant had the support they needed to perform at their best.

Here’s what made the day truly special:
- Comprehensive event execution: RTS coordinated bus transportation for every youth, ensuring safe travel to and from their sites.
- Fueling success: Players were provided with a healthy meal, unlimited energy drinks, and nutrition bars to keep their energy up throughout the tournament.
- Guidance from professionals: Referees and coaches helped create a structured and immersive game-day experience.
- Sportsmanship & leadership: Players learned the value of teamwork, discipline, and respect—on and off the court.
- Diversity & inclusion: The event welcomed youth from diverse backgrounds, including asylum-seeking families and low-income households, fostering a sense of unity and belonging.

The RTS Annual Basketball 3V3 continues to grow, proving that basketball is more than a game—it’s a vehicle for empowerment, growth, and connection. As we celebrate this year’s winners and participants, we’re already looking forward to next year’s tournament and the incredible talent that will take the court!
