Roads to Success

Over 50 Roads to Success youth and more than 30 young staff members attended Deloitte Impact Day for a transformative workshop on "Building Resilience."

Impact Day is Deloitte’s annual day of service, celebrating their year-round commitment to making a meaningful impact in the communities where they live and work. Roads to Success was honored to be one of the nonprofit collaborators for this significant event. The workshop focused on helping students build resilience and personal branding, essential skills for their future careers.

The youth were thrilled to be part of such an empowering event. They had the opportunity to learn about different career paths and build a roadmap for their futures.

One student shared her renewed commitment to education: “I now want to ensure I don't miss a single day of school, to make my family and myself proud, and to take full advantage of such opportunities."

The dedication and enthusiasm of Deloitte’s role models, who conducted the workshop, provided the much-needed attention and guidance to our youth. Their involvement showed how impactful mentoring and support can be in helping young people envision a brighter future. The session was particularly meaningful for the 10 new New Yorker students who face language barriers. With the help of translators, they could participate and benefit from the experience.

Araceli Ortega, a dedicated teacher from our partner school, Esperanza Preparatory Academy, shared her thoughts on the experience: “As a teacher, I think it's important that students get exposed to such amazing opportunities where they learn about different careers and opportunities so they can create a roadmap for how they want to shape their future."

Sheila Duke, CEO- Roads to Success, expressed her pride and gratitude. She said, "I am proud to see our youth so enthusiastic about attending these sessions. Their participation and excitement motivate us to continue serving these deserving young people from NYC. We are deeply grateful to Deloitte for their support and commitment to making a difference in our community."
