Roads to Success

This year, the TCS NYC Marathon wasn’t just about the race—it was about resilience, camaraderie, and the enduring spirit of community.

On November 3rd, eleven incredible individuals represented Roads to Success(RTS) with a mission beyond the finish line: supporting our youth in New York City. Their goal was ambitious, pledging to raise $4,000 each to helpfund scholarships and youth programs.

Thanks to their determination and the generosity of 528 supporters, they exceeded expectations, raising $45,291!

A day prior to the marathon, our Board Chair and runner Gregorio Concha Toro shared a heartfelt message that captured the essence of what lay ahead:

"I have lived in NYC for 13 years, and this is my favorite weekend of the year. It's not an exaggeration to say that Sunday will be absolutely transformative: it will MOVE YOU! The marathon is a magnificent testament to the love that flows through this incredible city. What makes it even more remarkable is that you're all running for a cause that's so close to my heart – Roads to Success!
Above all, remember to savor every moment of this incredible journey. Here's the best advice I ever received: it's a 20-mile jog followed by a 6.2-mile race!
RUN, RUN, RUN!"

RTS CEO Sheila Duke reflected on the team's achievement:

“Our runners are nothing short of remarkable. Each step they took at the marathon, every dollar they raised, brought us closer to brighter futures for New York City's youth. Their dedication goes beyond the race—it’s a commitment to building a community that believes in opportunity, resilience,and compassion. They've not only paved a path for our young people but have shown us all the power of stepping up for something greater than ourselves. This journey is proof that together, we can make lasting change, and I couldn't be prouder of this incredible team.”

Impact by the Numbers

The funds raised will have a lasting impact on RTS programs,addressing critical needs and opening doors for youth across our communities. Here’s how the pledged $44,000 will be allocated:

22% to Scholarships: Supporting students with scholarships to help ease financial strain and increase access to educational resources.
23% to After-school Program Scholarships: This vital allocation will provide scholarships for after-school programs, where enrollment has dropped due to a recent funding cut. These funds will help keep students engaged, giving families much-needed support.
40% to the Pathways Program: A significant portion will go to our Pathways Program, designed to offer college exposure and career readiness opportunities for young people, preparing them for bright futures.
15% to Administrative Costs: Ensuring smooth operations and continued program support.

These contributions are essential in helping our youth achieve their dreams, gain college exposure, and prepare for fulfilling careers.
